Whatever your interests are, there’s something for everyone in the South Home Counties. London is under an hour away by train from many key locations, whether it’s the exclusive gated community of St Georges Hill, Guildford or Haslemere in the Surrey Hills, Sevenoaks and Tunbridge Wells in Kent, there’s enough to keep you entertained and occupied right on the doorstep. If you’re after a more active lifestyle, then the South Downs National Park offers 1,627 square kilometres of verdant countryside to explore, within which are the popular towns of Petersfield, Midhurst Petworth and Pulborough.

Wherever you choose to set up home, the coastline is easily accessible, whether its enjoying the pebbly beach of Brighton or setting sail out of Chichester Harbour. Other leisure amenities include some of the country’s top golf courses, like nearby Wentworth, Queenwood and Wisley in Surrey, and Polo at Cowdray Park.

The globally renowned Goodwood Estate is also on hand to offer an amazing calendar of events throughout the year, including motorsport at the Goodwood Festival of Speed and the Goodwood Revival. The food scene is also excellent, you’ll never tire of exploring the fantastic hotels, pubs and restaurants, which include the Kennels at Goodwood, The Pig Hotel in Madehurst and Beaverbrook.

Key Details

The South East has some excellent schooling options and there is a wide range of choices from boarding schools and village primary schools to the international school in Cobham. Areas of particular note when it comes to their reputation for education include Sevenoaks, Elmbridge, Guildford, Tonbridge and Tunbridge Wells.

In terms of transport links, the South East is very easily accessible by both car and train. Large commuter hubs like Oxshott, Guildford, Farnham, Sevenoaks, Godalming and Dorking offer trains into London’s major stations in under an hour, with many operating between 30 – 40 minutes. Due to the counties’ proximity to London, you also have the added benefit of all the capital’s international airports within easy reach.
